21 Days to a Simple Christmas, Day 15

We are already up to day 15 of this challenge and time is flying right by. Today’s challenge was to read  chapter 8 of Celebrating and Savoring a Simple Christmas. Then it was time to cook or in our case get into some candy making.

Both of my kids helped me today and we tackled 5 recipes. All of them were easy. Nothing more complicated than running a microwave and spoon. We made 3 fudge recipes and two bark recipes. That brings our total to 9 candies so far this week. So we are right on track to finish by Friday with all of our candy and cookie making.

Here’s what we made today,

We started out with the bark recipes. They are super easy just melt the base, stir in the nuts and then melt the second flavor and swirl in. Then you have a yummy treat as soon as the bark is set. But be sure not to put your hand on it until the bark is set. I won’t tell you who stuck their hand in the butterscotch one before it was set.

After the bark was done we decided we had time for a few fudge recipes. The kids helped with all three. My son wanted to eat the marshmallows in the rocky road fudge but they all made it into the recipe. He just loves marshmallows. The other two fudge recipes are what I call frosting fudge since you use a can of frosting to make them. I know it sounds weird but they turn out good.

We are about half done with our goodies for Christmas. I’m hoping to get about 5 more done tomorrow and the same for the next few days. So we can deliver our goodie plates on Saturday.

Have you made any goodies for Christmas yet?

  1. Your treats look so yummy. We are going to try a few of them this week. The Honey Candy looks delicious.

    1. Thanks, Sakura. They honey candy is really good. I just made that one for the first time this year. My husband took some of it to a meeting and none of it came back, so I guess they all liked it. 🙂 I hope you enjoy the recipes.
