End of Summer Meal Plan

It’s the beginning of September. I’m so ready for the weather to change and get back to baking.

It was a hot August this year and I’m done with hot weather for this year. Although we still have a few more days of upper 90’s temperatures in our forecast. Yuck!

This month I’ll be slowly transitioning our meal plan to more fall like meals.

I’ve been working on our food storage. I dried some plums and pears. I hoping to do more this week when it cools off. If our beans keep producing I’ll can a few more green beans and maybe even make a few jars of pickles.

I’m keeping a few easy to make meals in our meal plan each week for this month. I want to be sure I’ll have easy meals to make on those days when I’m prepping food for storage.

This week we will be grilling hamburgers to say goodbye to summer. We’ll also be having chicken pad thai. I use a recipe my friend gave me. It is so good.

We’ll be having homemade pizza and salad one night because it’s a family favorite at our house. If it’s still to hot we may have waffle iron pizza pockets instead.

What’s cooking at your house this week?

Here’s What’s on our Meal Plan for this Week,

Dinners

Easy to make slow cooker beef and bean enchiladas, frugal family home

Slow Cooker Beef and Bean Enchiladas, Salad, and Fruit

Hamburgers, Macaroni Salad, and Fruit

Chicken Pad Thai with Stir Fry Vegetables

Eggs, Sausage, and Pancakes

This is a great recipe tutorial for how to make bbq pulled pork. I’ve made pulled pork in the crock pot or slow cooker before but it just didn’t turn out that great, it was a little stringy. But this is the best pulled pork I’ve made. It starts with a dry rub to add in lots of flavor. Then it's smoked to perfection. We love this pulled pork meat on sandwiches or just by itself. This is a recipe you need to try, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

Pulled Pork Sandwiches, Chips, and Fruit Salad

Pizza and Salad

Chicken Mushroom Noodles with Salad

Lunches

Leftover most days

Tortilla Wrap Sandwiches, Chips, and Fruit

Salmon Salad and Fruit

Breakfast

Toast with Eggs

Eggs, Sausage, Hash Browns and Toast

Waffles, Eggs, and Sausage

  1. I’m one of those weird ones who is sad to bid summer adieu. I’m hoping to make time to do a lot of grilling before it gets too cold. On the other hand, I *do* want to get back to baking bread and soup is one of my favorite things.

    Have a beautiful week!

    1. Deanna, we grill all year round but we normally have mild winters too. Soup and bread baking is what I’m ready for. 🙂 I hope you have a great week and can squeeze in a little more grilling at your house. I hope you have a great week too.
