Christmas is coming, we’re only a couple of weeks away from the big day. Are you ready?

I’m working on making Christmas cookies and candy this week. Since I’ll be doing extra baking, our menu plan is fairly simple with easy to make meals.

I also be using the slow cooker a couple of times this week. I love how easy it is to make a meal in it.

We will be making a couple recipes from Budget Bytes this week.

The ham and bean soup looked so good. We made it a few times and it turns out great each time.

We are also fond of asian inspired food too, so I’m making the Chicken Yakisoba. Have you made it before? It’s one of our favorite quick and easy meals.

Here’s what’s cooking at our house this week

Dinners

An easy recipe for slow cooker split pea soup. It’s quick to get started in the crock pot in the morning on a busy day. Then come home to a delicious meal. It’s also weight watchers friendly when made with lean ham. Come give this recipe a try.

Breakfast

I love how easy these cinnamon twist scones are to make. They are as easy to mix up as biscuits, but turn out looking so fancy. Great for breakfast or brunch when company is coming over. They are also a frugal breakfast recipe costing only $.10 each. My family gobbles these up every time I made them.

  1. I’m not nearly as ready for Christmas as I’d like to be. I need to make some real progress this week. Your pork roast recipe sounds delicious.

  2. We’re going to have a couple of special meals this week. David wants Chick-fil-A for his 1st transplant birthday meal. Yes, we’re celebrating! 🙂

And my daughter, Elisabeth, is turning 3-years-old. I’m not sure yet what she wants to eat, but I’ll be asking her soon. We typically let the birthday person choose a birthday breakfast and then a birthday lunch or dinner. We usually make the meals at home, but David wants to eat out… so to Chick-fil-A we’ll go on Thursday!

    1. Sandra, I would be celebrating too. It’s something to really celebrate. 🙂

We used to have a Chick-fil-A here, years ago, like when I was in high school, but they closed down. Now I think the nearest one to us is in Idaho. I’ve heard rumors we might be getting a new one soon. Then we can try them out. I don’t think I’ve ever ate there.

We do the same for birthday’s here to. Everyone get to pick their special meal and we have family over to celebrate with a meal and dessert. Hope you all have a great time at Chick-fil-A!
