2013 Goals Update

“A year from now you may wish you had started today.”-Karen Lamb

As I look over my goals for this past year, I realize a few things. First, that I was able to get to the things that were most important to me. Such as seeking God and taking care of my family.

Second, that I set way too many goals for myself. I was able to accomplish many of my goals but I think I wasn’t realistic in how many I could really get to.

Third, If you don’t believe you can do it, it’s not going to happen. My goal to lose weight this year was an utter failure. Now sitting at the end of the year, I’m the same weight as I was in January. I think there are two reasons this happened. One I have this nagging self-doubt that I will ever lose this weight, always with me. Two, I gave in to temptation one to many times.

On a bright side of my weight loss failure, I now exercise 5 times a week. I know you may be saying then why didn’t you lose any weight? The answer to that is, at least for me, I can’t exercise enough to stay ahead of my overeating. Getting control of my mind and my eating will be the key to weight loss for me.

My biggest improvements this year were, leaning on God, calling out in prayer not only for myself but others when I needed to. I strived to improve the relationships I have, by giving of myself to others when needed. I learned a lot this year about blogging and photography. I sure hope it shows in my blog posts.

So that pretty much wraps up this year for me. Below is my list of goals and which ones I met and which ones fell by the wayside.

How did you do on your goals for this year?

The Goals I took on in 2013,

Organize and declutter the whole house, do one room/area a month and maintain rooms already accomplished
Set a cleaning schedule up and stick with it (most of the year I stuck to my schedule but the last few months it has been hit or miss)

Make a plan with my husband about any home improvements we need to tackle this year and schedule (we made a plan but only a few got done)
Continue my coupon shopping, bulk buying, freezer cooking and couponing to keep our household and grocery bill down

Financial

Get Budget plan set for the year and re-evaluate each month
Rebuild saving for medical expenses

Lose 40 pounds (I weigh the same as I did when the year started)
Expand my knowledge base in the areas of blogging, graphics and business

    1. Thanks Erin! Getting on a workout schedule was a really tough thing for me to start. I think once I made my mind up my body just followed along. 🙂 Happy New Year to you and I hope your 2014 is great too.

My goals is to set goals for myself weekly, monthly, yearly. I have big goals things year, but getting it down on paper is challenging 😉 But you’ve shown time and time again how important it is to do it to accomplish it
    Happy New Year!

    1. Thanks Tamara, This past year was the first year I set goals for the year. I was really surprised at how well having them and working towards them helped me to get more done. 🙂 I hope goal setting each week, month and year helps you get your big goals accomplished too. Happy New Year!
