4 Weeks To a More Organized Home…Assignment 11

This morning I got up and did my usually morning routine.

I made my list of what I wanted to get done for the day.

Then I got our dinner cooking in the crockpot. Yummy pot roast with potatoes and carrots.

Then after school was all done and we had finished our lunch. I did a quick 15 minutes pick up around the house. It really was not too bad today. I just needed to clean the piano of all of the paper items and pick up our newspaper from Sunday.

Then it was on to tackle the silverware drawer.

Which was the assignment for today from Money Saving Mom’s 4 weeks to a more organized home.

Here is what it looked like before.

I don’t know how so many crumbs can get in with the clean silverware. Do any of you know where they come from?

I took everything out and sorted the items as I went along.

Once everything was out I noticed that a spatula had gotten wedged in the back and separated the bottom of the drawer from the back of the drawer.

I got out a hammer and mended the drawer and cleaned the inside, all nice and clean.

Then in the sink I cleaned out all the holders for the knives and silverware. Then washed them in hot soapy water.

Then put those holders back into the drawer and arranged them in a way I thought would work out best.

If I had some contact paper I would have lined the drawer, but this will do for now. Then I put everything in groups with like items. I placed the items I use the most in the front and all my graters on the side.

Now that is a lot nicer.

Here are my items I have to giveaway or throw away. Some of these items have been in there for a while without being used so I decided it was time for them to go.

I was able to complete this task in about 30 minutes today. It sure is nice to have the drawer organized. I might try to find another basket to place in the drawer to keep the items towards the front more organized but this will work for now.

Did you do the assignment today?

  1. I always wondered that myself…how can all those crumbs get into the silverware tray when you’ve only been putting clean silverware in it? Must be one of those mysteries like where all those socks go in the washing machine 😉

    1. I know where do all the crumbs come from? We don’t keep the drawer open for crumbs to fall in. I guess it will just be a mystery.
