31 Days of Homemaking Day 9

No time to clean, do a 15 minute speed cleaning session

15 minute cleaning session, 31 days of homemaking I will find myself tight on time on some days, well actually quite a few days a week. So when I find myself in a situation like this I do a speed cleaning sessions. I will dust, vacuum and other tasks needing to be done in just 15 minutes.

These cleaning session are not like my normal easy-going cleaning. Oh no, I am running around the house quickly picking up items, then dusting right behind that. Then I will grab the vacuum and quickly vacuum the room. I will get quite a workout during this 15 minutes of cleaning so I am not only cleaning but getting my exercising done too.

I like to multi-task when I am short on time. So I will wait to do my speed cleaning when I am waiting on something else. Such as when I am waiting on  dinner to get done cooking is a great time to take a few minutes to do a quick cleaning session. I may also do some speed cleaning while waiting on the kids to do some home school work I need to look over. Anytime you have a few minutes you can squeeze in a little cleaning time.

When I am on the phone I will do some cleaning then too. I can usually talk and clean the counter. I was recently talking to my mother-in-law on the phone while I was scrubbing the floor clean. Any cleaning job that doesn’t involve a lot of noise can usually be done while on the phone.

Finding time to clean doesn’t mean you must have a set time a large chunk of time aside, do a little here and there when you are short on time. I think you will be amazed at how well this works to keep your home looking great.
Tomorrow I will be writing about how to make these speed clean session fun so you can get the kids to help too.

  1. Hi Shelly! Great ideas! I think taking little chunks of time to clean can make a big difference. Just taking 5 minutes or so to pick up the toys and clutter in my office makes a big difference to me…even if it doesn’t last long. 🙂

    1. I know about the look of a clean picked up house not lasting long. 🙂
