4 Weeks to a More Organized Home…Simplified {Day 2}

How did you do on day one? Did you get your purse cleaned out? For Day 2 Crystal had assigned to get dressed, make a to do list (5-7 items that will help you reach your goals from your goal list). For the cleaning, she suggested to spend 10 minutes cleaning in the kitchen and 10 minutes cleaning the refrigerator.

I made up my to do list last night. I knew there would be a lot to do today so I made it ahead of time to help keep me focused.

We had breakfast and the dishes got deposited into the sink but not loaded into the dishwasher. I really should get the kids to put their dishes into the dishwasher and not just leave them for me to do.

So then we started in with our homeschool lessons for the day. While the kids were working on their own, I decided to load the dishes in the dishwasher and cleaned the sink. I also was trying to determine what else should be done in the kitchen too.

After looking around I noticed my counters looked a little messy so I decided to clean the counters. I had left out my crock pot after cooking dinner last night and I had a little other clutter on the counters to clean off. So as I cleaned, I also put the items cluttering up my counter away. I love it when I have the counters newly cleaned, they are always so shiny. Having the clutter put away also make the kitchen look so much better.

With that task done I we finished up our homeschool for the day. After all of the homeschool items were put away, the refrigerator was next on my list to do. Last time I followed along in the original 4 Weeks series I missed the cleaning of the refrigerator day. Since I usually clean up any spills in the refrigerator as I see them the refrigerator wasn’t too bad.

There was quite a few items that needed to be removed, little bits of leftover food that had been in there too long to eat. I also located a leaking container of miso paste stuffed in the back. So that just had to go, in fact I didn’t even remember it was back there. So after I cleared out anything that was questionable the refrigerator was so much easier to clean.

Now it looks like I need to go shopping. I can’t believe how much better my kitchen looks with just 20 minutes of cleaning. 🙂

What in your kitchen needs your attention today? Do you have anything lurking in the refrigerator that needs to go?

  1. Great job! A cleaned out refrigerator always looks so nice! Sometimes I wonder why I put it off so long when it’s usually a very simple job. 🙂

    1. I know I just dread cleaning the refrigerator but it wasn’t that bad today.

  2. Looks great, Shelly. I’m sure we have a few things in our fridge that need to be tossed. I’m going to get to cleaning that out asap. 🙂

    1. I had some extra waffles I forgot to freeze so those went out to the birds. They seems to like them quite well. Then there was just some odds and ends I forgot to serve at lunch. So now our refrigerator seems so bare. Can’t wait to see your post on your day 2 cleaning.
