Make the Most of your Mornings Day 6

Now this is a start to the new week and the second week of this challenge. I am finding this challenge helpful to me. I feel like I am starting a regular routine and I am getting so much more done each day by having a good start to the day.

Last night was the first night I forgot my 5 tasks before bed. This morning I woke up to no bread in the cupboard because I did not check last night. (it was on my list of tasks to take bread out of the freezer) I did not have the meat out for tonight’s dinner but I did remember to get it out this morning. This is just a great test for me to show I really do better when I follow my routine.

So far in this series these are the things I am working on for this challenge

1. Bed by 10:30 each night
2. I have my top 5 things to do each evening
3. I have set a time to wake up at 6:30 and out of bed by 7:00
4. Each morning I will pray and name three things I am thankful for to help my day get off to a good start.
 5. Have a plan for your day, I set up 5 goals to work on for the remainder of this year.

Now for today’s assignment, Day 6 Make a Realistic To Do List

Ok, I am really guilty of this one. I have so many things I want to do and get done most days that I plan way to much. I am improving on this aspect of my life and beginning to recognize what is a reasonable amount to get done each day. I try to keep my to do list at about 5 items a day and get the items I like to do the least done first. It really helps me to keep making progress each day.

Since I started a to do list each day I really get much more done. I am no longer going from task to task without thinking. I have a plan of what needs to be done but I am also flexible enough to take what the day brings.

On thing that Crystal pointed out in her assignment today was to prioritize your to do list each day so you get what really needs to be done, done each day. This is something I wasn’t doing but I can see where it really can help me get accomplished the most important items each day. She also shared that if time allows then add in a few 15 minute tasks to work towards your goals.

Crystal listed some great free resources for setting up a to do list each day and other scheduling helps. Here are direct links to two of them and the last link gets you to her post with all the resources.

Do you often list too many things on your to do list for the day?

  1. Hi Shelly!

I think I do sometimes pile too much onto myself in the season of life that I am in right now. I want to be a great wife, mom, homemaker, business owner, blogger, etc… and it’s all just too much sometimes with 5 kids and three of those 5 kids being 5 and under. Plus, my daughter – 8 months old – is VERY attached to me.

I think it would help me to do that tasks each day that I least want to get done like you do, but I DON’T. Lol! 🙂 I make excuses….like I can’t pay that bill online right now…..I’m holding the baby. But honestly I COULD pay that bill while holding the baby.

Anyway, thank you for the reminder that having a schedule and a routine is good. I think we definitely have a morning routine going…it just needs to be improved upon.

    1. You have so much to do and with your business being at home I am sure you have a harder time seperating time for work versus home, since they are both in the same place.

I need to be better about time for the kids and working in fun things each day. Sometimes the I have to do’s get in the way of the want to do’s. Life has to be a balance and sometimes the balance get tipped to far one direction and something has to give.
Sometimes a mom just need to hold the baby without doing other things and enjoy that moment.
