4 Weeks to a More Organized Home, Kitchen Cleaning

It’s almost spring so, it’s time to organize! I’m joining in with Crystal from Money Saving Mom to organize my home. If you want to follow along be sure to grab Crystal’s free ebook.

Day one of the more organized home challenge

I did the complete list for the challenge. I’m not sure if I will be able to do all the tasks each day of the challenge, but my goal is to get at least the shortened version done each day.

Here’s the tasks for today,

  • Get dressed.
  • Make a to do list of 5-7 items to accomplish today.
  • Complete your Morning Routine
  • Set a Timer for 15 minutes and do a quick clean of the kitchen.
  • Find 7 items to get rid of today.
  • Clean the refrigerator

The first three are things I do each week anyway, so those tasks were easy for me to get done. Here’s how the rest of my tasks went along with the before and after photos,

The Dreaded Refrigerator Cleaning

I usually dread cleaning the refrigerator. I usually put it off until the refrigerator is so bad I just don’t even want to tackle it. But not this time. I’ve been working on clean a shelf or the door of the refrigerator each week. So, today I just had to clean one shelf and the drawers. I’m so happy I’ve been doing a little each week it made the task so much more manageable.

Kitchen Quick Clean

This is what my kitchen looked like when I woke up. Not too bad, just a lot of clutter on the counters. I thought about picking up that dish towel on the floor, before taking the photos, but I decided to leave it. I think the cat must have knocked it down overnight since it wasn’t there when I went to bed.

Before Cleaning in the Kitchen

I wiped down the cupboards, and counters once I had them all cleared off. The whole kitchen was finished in about 20 minutes. This is what the kitchen looked like when I was done. Oh, so much better and less cluttered too.

Purged Items

Purged Items

I’ve been thinking for a while I needed to purge a few of my plastic containers. (thinking, but not taking care of the task) They have been multiplying and I could barely get them all to fit in the cupboard. Today was the day for a few of them to go to a new home.

Saving Seeds

I also have been looking at these dried up peppers since last fall. They dried nicely, all that was left to do was to open them up and save the seeds. It took me a minute and the task was done.

I love having a nice clutter free kitchen, don’t you?

Tomorrow, will be a quick clean of the bedroom and cleaning out the freezer. My favorite task of all, taking on the freezer. See you tomorrow.
