Tuesday Garden Party for April 7th

My peas have been really loving the weather we have been having. It’s been a little cooler this past week, perfect weather for the sugar snap peas and bush peas. They are growing really nicely.

The peas really are liking the spring weather here in Oregon.

I can’t wait until we have fresh peas straight from the garden. I can almost taste them now. What do you have growing in your garden now?

I would love to have you link up your great gardening ideas below! Be sure to check out the features that Michelle picked for this week. If you missed the garden party from last week be sure to check out all the great ideas everyone linked up!

I headed down to Central Missouri this week to visit with my parents and my 91 year old grandfather who is not doing that well. I always love the drive down south as the seasons change – because I get to witness the changes from my car. Spring in Missouri is quite a bit ahead of my home in Iowa, which makes me hopeful for its march north.

I also always like to come to Missouri to see what my dad’s up to in his garden. He has taught me a lot about gardening and is always helpful to lend a supportive voice when I call screaming about the latest nasty bug I found in my plants. His 7000 + square foot garden produces a good portion of the food he and my mom eat, and he donates a lot of the surplus too. He’s already planted all of his potatoes and onions, as well as greens, kohlrabi, and chard. Spring is coming to all of us – this trip south has given me renewed hope.

  1. What beautiful little pea plants you have! If this nice weather persists, I’ll be planting mine in early May. I love seeing all your progress, and it gives me great motivation.
