12 Months to a Healthier You Challenge, Week 40

A healthier You for 2014

I’m following along with theย 12 Months to a Healthier You Challenge at Money Saving Mom. I started the challenge in January to help keep me motivated to lose weight and help me establish some good healthy habits too.

How the Challenge Works

Each month of the challenge will have an area to focus on, to help improve your health and mine. This month’s focus will be on cutting back on caffeine.

This challenge should be fairly easy for me. I don’t consume much caffeine at all so cutting back a little more should be fairly easy.

My Goal for October’s Focus Area

Cutting Back on Caffeine for October, 12 Months to a Healthier You

Are you ready to cut back on some caffeine with me this month? I’ll tell you a secret, I don’t drink coffee at all. I don’t drink any tea with caffeine either. I love the smell of coffee, it’s just something about the taste of it that just repels me.

So this month’s focus area should be fairly easy for me. I think the only food or drink I consume with caffeine is soda on rare occasions and chocolate on less rare occasions, meaning often. This month I’m going to limit my chocolate intake.

Maybe this will be a little harder than I think. I don’t think I’ll totally give up chocolate forย the month, but I’ll do my best to cut back. After all, it’s October and all that discounted Halloween candy will be calling my name.

My Progress for this week

This past week went well for me, no Halloween candy has yet entered our home. So, I was able to limit my chocolate consumption this week.

I found a candy bar in the back of the cupboard and thought I might eat a piece or two of it, but when I opened it, it had gone bad. So into the trash it went. Hard to believe I would throw away chocolate, but I did. ๐Ÿ™‚

As far as the other changes, my sweets were limited this week too, since I was cutting back on chocolate. I did my exercising each day, ate my fruits and vegetables, drank most of my water and got to be on time each night. I was really tired this week so it was easy to get to bed on time.

How did you week go? Will you be joining me on cutting back on caffeine?

  1. It sounds like you’re doing great with everything you’re working on, Shelly. ๐Ÿ™‚ I have to admit that cutting back on caffeine would be incredibly hard for me. I drink two cups of coffee per day, and I can’t imagine not having them! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I only add a little almond milk to my coffee, and I guess that’s how I’m going to justify keeping it at two cups for now. Lol

    1. Thanks, Sandra! Yes cutting back on caffeine is harder than I thought. But if I can keep away from the chocolate I should do alright. ๐Ÿ™‚
