12 Months to a Healthier You, Week 31

A healthier You for 2014

I’m following along with the 12 Months to a Healthier You Challenge at Money Saving Mom. I started the challenge in January to help keep me motivated to lose weight and help me establish some good healthy habits too.

How the Challenge Works

Each month of the challenge will have an area to focus on, to help improve your health and mine. This month’s focus will be on getting to bed early.

Rest is so important to stay healthy. For this month I’ll be trying to go to bed a little earlier so I can be sure to get enough sleep each night.

My Goal for August’s Focus Area

This month the focus will be on getting to bed early. I’ve been fairly consistent on getting to bed at a reasonable time each night. So, my goal for this month is to be in bed by 10:30 each night. And when I mean be in bed, that means in bed with all of my electronic devices turned off.

It easy to crawl into bed and then start watching a video or catching up on Facebook or email. Does anyone else do this? But for the month of August I will be trying to be in bed with all electronics off by 10:30. I think that is a fairly reasonable time. Don’t you?

My Progress for this week

Since this is the first day of the month, I’ll just let you know how I did on my reading this past week. I’m sorry to say I didn’t get any reading done at all. Yes that’s right, nothing, nada, zip.

My excuse is we ended up having trouble with the switch over for our phone, which took some extra time. It was also fairly hot here this past week and I was in the pool with the kids almost everyday. So that ate up my extra time for reading but it was so much fun.

I did get my water in this week, thanks to the hot weather. I ate my fruits and vegetables, thanks to all the great produce that is coming from our garden. I even avoided extra sugar, since I didn’t end up going grocery shopping until late this week and we had no sweets in the house.

What time to do you try to be in bed by?

  1. I’m glad to hear you and the kids got to enjoy the pool a lot this week. 🙂

My bedtime is all over the place right now, but I guess I would like to be in bed by 11pm each night. I think I should start working on that bed time. Thanks for the encouragement, Shelly!
