Weight Loss Journey Continues Update for February

My progress or should I say lack of progress,

This past month was not the best month for me as far as weight loss goes. My stress level was up and my willpower was down. That combination doesn’t make for a very good month for weight loss at all. While I don’t think I ate too much of the wrong foods, I just ate too much in general of all foods. Did you know you can overeat on good for you foods too?

I caught myself many times eating more out of habit than out of need for food. Oh those old habits really die hard don’t they. So my goal of asking myself a few questions before I ate just didn’t work well for me. I didn’t do very well with that at all this past month.ย I know the mindless eating is my downfall in my weight loss journey. The mindless eating is something I have lived with for so many years it is not going to change overnight or in one month. But if I reduce how often I mindlessly eat I know I can make some progress.

So my plan for this month is again to work on eating only when I am hungry. I have to say over the last week or so I have noticed that most of the time I do wait until I am hungry during the day. At times I will get overly hungry and my stomach will really be growling before I get anything to eat.

I also noticed I am just eating too much when I do sit down to eat. So I am not going to have seconds of any item for this month. This is all trial and error for me. I know I need to moderate my food intake and I know I don’t want to totally give up my favorite foods. So by not having seconds I think I can achieve both.

As far as my exercising goes I did fairly well. I was able to get my exercising in about 3 out of the 5 days I had planned. So not too bad a little over half the time. I would like to get closer to 4 out of 5 days each week if not 5 days of exercise out of the 5 I have planned.

My plan for exercise this month will be, 10 push ups, 10 jumping jacks and 5 minutes of other exercise 5 days a week. I have an exercise bike I can ride for 5 minutes or I might just go up and down the stairs for 5 minutes or just dance for 5 minutes a day. I have lots of options so I should be able to find something I want to do for 5 minutes for exercise.

Now I know this might not seem like much exercise but I am slowly adding more each month. Just a couple of months ago I wasn’t doing much of any exercise at all so even this small amount is an improvement.

Now for the update on my progress,

Weight left to lose as of last month 38 pounds

Amount of weight loss this monthย gained 2 pounds

Weight left of lose 40 pounds

Yes you read that right. I gained two pounds last month. I am back right where I started this journey but at least it isn’t more than I started with. I know why my results are this way. I let stress get to me and in turn I used food for comfort. Not a good combination at all.

So I see my choices are to give up (not gonna do that) or to keep plugging along (this is my choice).

How do you deal with set backs? How is your weight loss journey coming along?

  1. Hi Shelly, it’s hard to have setbacks. When I do, I reevaluate what I’m choosing to eat. That is usually the problem for me. I also try to have grace when things like birthdays and meals out come up. I know I’m probably not going to lose weight those weeks. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Accountability is helping me, though. I’ve got my accountability partner who emails me first thing on Monday mornings. She’s not letting me off the hook. ๐Ÿ˜‰ That has made me get on the treadmill way more than I have in recent months. I also recently started an accountability group for Bible reading with my mom and cousin. They come to my house 2x per month and we keep each other accountable to read two chapters of God’s Word each day. We are all reading in the same places.

Again, this accountability is making a huge difference. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thanks Sandra, This past week I was able to get all my exercise in and this week I have done the same so far. So I am slowly getting into better habits. I even made some kale chips this week. They were really good and everyone but my son liked them. He looked at the color and decided they weren’t for him. But I think he will eventually try them. ๐Ÿ™‚

I still need to email you, I haven’t forgotten I just need to get it done.
