Melt butter or coconut oil or margarine in a skillet over medium heat.
Add the apples and lemon juice. Let cook until tender crisp. Don’t let the apples overcook and get mushy.
Sprinkle the sugar over the apples and stir or toss to combine.
Continue to cook the apples until the sugar is fully dissolved. You may need to turn the heat down to keep the sugar from burning. You want the sugar to thicken and really coat the apples like a thick syrup.
Remove the skillet from the heat and sprinkle with the cinnamon and nutmeg. Stir to combine.
