31 Days of Frugal Homemaking Begins

I’m doing it again this year. I’ve committed to writing 31 posts in 31 days on one subject. Yes, I think I’m just a little bit crazy to do this again, but the challenge of it all, keeps pulling me back it.

What I’ll Writing About this Month

The subject I’ll be writing on combines two things I love to talk about, saving money and homemaking. Each day I’ll be sharing something that can help you as a homemaker or help your budget. I have set up the 31 Days of Frugal Homemaking page so you can find the links in this series.

For this year’s series, I’ll be sharing a little about how I changed from being a spender to a tightwad. I’ll be sharing some recipe that save me time and money. I’m going to include a few do it yourself posts and maybe even a video or two.

Frugal Homemaking

Homemaking is a hard career. It’s one that I wasn’t at all fully prepared for, even though my mom was a stay at home mom. Throw into the mix that I had very little money management help offered to me in school and you have a train wreck waiting to happen.

I was often distracted by what was in front of me and the sales to be had. I didn’t really think for the future. But I had a few people who were great role models for me. My great grandma was a wonderful homemaker. She had 13 kids and made almost everything from scratch.

My grandparents taught me by example, that money is something that should be saved. They taught me how to be content and live within your means, even thrive there. They were my grounding in a world that wanted me to consume and spend at every turn.

I hope by the end of the series, you can glean a few new ideas to help you save more money and be more confident in your role as a homemaker. Now this series isn’t just for stay at home moms or dads, it’s for everyone who needs to save money and has a home and family to take care of.

Are you ready to join me in this 31 day journey into frugal homemaking? I sure hope you will. It will be no fun without you.
