21 Days to a Simple Christmas, Day 16

Today we are onto day 16. Just a few more days before we finish up this challenge. Has it been helping you get prepared for Christmas? I know it has been helping me stay focused and get things done that I might have otherwise dragged my feet on.

Today’s challenge was to read chapter 9 of Celebrating and Savoring a Simple Christmas (it’s free from Money Saving Mom if you haven’t gotten a copy yet.) The second task was to add a little Christmas decor or Christmas cheer to your home.

Our home has been decorated since the day after Thanksgiving. Instead of Black Friday shopping we decorate the house for Christmas. So I thought I would share a few photos of special items we have,

These two little candle holders came from my Great Aunt Winnie. My mom received them from her and after my mom passed I received them. They are from the 50’s and I think they are just so cute. I can vaguely remember them in my Aunt Winnie’s house. Just knowing they were loved by two people I loved so much makes them extra special to me.

One year, a few years ago, my daughter and myself made these cute little nativity ornaments to give out to friends. We saved one for ourselves and it’s one of my favorite ornaments. I think it’s because of the memories I have making it with my daughter.

This nativity scene was set up year after year at our house when I was growing up. One of our neighbors gave it to our family and I have loved it since we received it. It now is unpacked and displayed in our home each year too.

My son just loves to play with it, in fact today we thought Joseph was lost. My son had all the people scattered about the living room but he couldn’t locate Joseph to put him back. But after a short search we found him hiding under a pillow. So he is safe and sound back where he should be. 🙂

Lastly to make our house smell great I love to spray this room freshener. This is one I picked up on sale a year back or maybe it was two? It has a great peppermint/vanilla scent. I love that it’s not too strong. Today I just had to spray a little through the house and it smelled great.

What’s some things you do to decorate or bring Christmas cheer to your home?
