5 Goals for September and Updating August Goals
Summer is coming to an end and I’m not done with all my summer work. How about you? We still have a few things to finish up while the weather is nice so I’m switching up my goals a little this month.
Instead of a homeschooling goal, for this month I’ll be adding a home project goal. We will be starting back to homeschooling this month. But there isn’t much changing from last year except getting new books to work from. I really need to continue working on our home project to get it done before the rain starts. Paint and rain just don’t mix well.
The Goal Plan for August
This month I’ll be working on 5 main areas. Home Projects, Healthy Habits, Blog Growth, Family Time, and Using my Online Calendar. I’ve updated the progress I made on each goal as well as my plans for this month too. I would love to have you share in the comments below what your goals are for this month.
Home Projects
I have painted about 1/2 to 2/3 of our house on the outside. Now it’s time to tackle the second story areas of our house with the painting. I was hoping to have the painting all done by now but we had to do a little more repairs to the siding than we thought we would have too.
My goal for this month is to finish the west and east sides of the house. That will get the whole house painted except the north side which looks really good. The only area that needs to be painted on that side is under the eaves. We usually have good weather in the month of September and I hope that will be true this month too, so I can finish up the house painting.
Family Time Goal
We never got our pool set up this year. It didn’t get hot enough to set it up until the end of August. It’s a little work to set it up so we just let it go for this year. The kids had other fun playing with water guns and the sprinkler.
This month we will be concentrating on spending time as a family each week. We will be eating dinner as a family each night. As well as setting aside time to play games each week.
Healthy Habits
I’ve been working on limiting my eating to cut my calorie intake. It went well for the month of August except for a couple of chocolate binges. I need to leave the chocolate at the store, it is too tempting for me. I have managed to limit my after dinner eating. This month I’ll be working on limiting my after dinner eating and reducing the amount I eat at breakfast a few times a week.
I easily met my goal for exercising. I started exercising with the kids each day for 15 minutes. Doing exercising with the kids helps me to fit it in and they have fun with it too. We will be continuing this goal for this month too.
Blog Growth
I purchased a blogging course I’ll be working through this month and for the next couple of months. I’m sure the changes will help with blog growth. I’m also hoping to work on my blog design but I’m not sure how much I’ll be able to get done, though. My goal is to work on it each weekend for an hour or two.
Organizing My Time
I’m continuing to use my online calendar. It’s an adjustment for me but I’m trying. I need a better way than the email I get in the morning to work off of. I might need to start making a to do list each day from my calendar. That might make it easier for me.
Those are my 5 main goals for this month. Most of these goals will go for 6-12 months, the organizing my time goal is just in the maintenance stage now until it becomes a true habit. I’ve been keeping on track with my goals using the steps I learned in the Make Over Your Year Course It has really helped me to break down my goals into steps for each week and each month to reach my goals. So far it’s been going really well this year. If you need to set goals of your own I would definitely recommend Crystal’s Make Over Your Year course. You don’t have to wait for the new year to start to make over your year, you can start today!
What goals are you working on for this month? I would love to have you share them in the comments below.

I’m impressed that you have painted so much of your house! That must be a very big undertaking…way to go! We really need to paint the inside of our house, but I’ve been putting it off for a year, because I’m not a big fan of painting, and I hate to have things in disarray for so long.
I’ve got an idea for you for your online calendar/to-do list dilemma…I listen to a podcast about organizing, and they suggest that you make your to-do list the night before, because there is a study out that says that your brain starts working through the to-do list while you sleep. Isn’t that interesting? I need to try it out and see if it works.
Hope you have a great month!
Thanks for the encouragement on the house painting and the tip on making the to-do list the night before. I’ll give it a try.
You always have such good goals! What blog course are you working through, if you don’t mind my asking? Traffic for me as been dismal this summer, so I’m really hoping it starts picking up soon!
Kristen, I’m sorry to hear your traffic has been down. I hope it picks up soon for you too. I’m taking Alea’s Strategic Blogging course right now.
