31 Days to Clean..The Reboot Day 1

Here is how I did on my First Assignments for 31 Day to Clean the Reboot.

My Martha Challenge to clean my closet.

The hanging clothes were not too bad. But the shelves really need some help. So I took everything off the shelves and all the hanging items out and put them on the bed. As I picked up each one to put it back I made sure the item was something I wore and fit. I was able to rid my closet of quite a few items.

The Mary Challenge was to meditate on this verse.

“Show me, Lord, my life’s end
and the number of my days;
let me know how fleeting my life is.
You have made my days a mere handbreadth;
the span of my years is as nothing before you.
Everyone is but a breath,
even those who seem secure.“

Psalm 39:4-5 NIV

And to think about how I spend my time and what I want to do with the years I have left here on this earth.

What I need to do

I need to make a few changes in how I schedule my day and to watch how much I schedule too. Some days when I put too much on the to do list I find I get less done than if I make a more manageable list. I need to learn to focus on the task at hand too. I find I will start on one project get distracted by another one and then I have two unfinished projects to take care of. I need to focus on each task at hand and learn to finish it.

I also need to really concentrate each day and what is important. Some days I focus so much on what needs to be done instead of my family. It is no good to have all the items on my to do list done but my kids or husband feel neglected.

What this verse brought to mind

This verse also brought up memories of my mom and how I am just three years away from the age my mom died at.

At the time we did not know she only had 3 years left. She died suddenly without warning of a heart attack. When I read this verse I thought of her and how everything seemed to be going well with her but it wasn’t.

This verse made me reflect about what is important each day to me, my husband, my kids and our extended family. Sometimes I just let the things of the day that I need to get done get in the way of the things I really love.

I can tell now that the Mary Challenges will be harder for me than the Martha Challenges.

Today I will be working on these challenges and I will post an update tomorrow.

Day 2 The Reboot

Sitting Before Doing

Mary Challenge Get alone with Jesus today. Find a verse in Psalms 119 that speaks to me and meditate on it. Make a plan to spend time with God each day.

Martha Challenge Clean the dresser drawers and the top of the dresser.

What do you find that distracts you and eats up your time?
