Clutter Busting Challenge, Day 9
Day 9 of The Clutter Busting Challenge
I know if you read my post from friday I said I would be working on my daughter’s closet today. But things changed and I decided to work on my son’s shirts. He is the reason why for the change. Each morning I put out some clothes for my son so he can get himself dressed. Well this morning he decided the shirt I put out wasn’t the right one and he found his Mickey Mouse shirt instead.
Well that particular shirt is too short for him (it’s a size 2T and he wears a size 5T) ย and I really should have removed it from his drawer before now. So since it was brought to my attention that I need to go through his shirts that is what I worked on today.
So today I found in my son’s drawers 3 shirts, 2 sets of pajamas and 4 pairs of training underwear. Now my son is wearing a size 4-5 shirt and all the shirts I removed were size 2-3 and he has been potty trained for years now.
Now you may have noticed there is no Mickey Mouse shirt in the pile above. My husband pointed out thatย maybe our son just loves the Mickey Mouse shirt and that is why he wanted to wear it so bad. So he didn’t care that it really doesn’t fit anymore.
So I told my son that if he changed his shirt into one that actually fits him we could make his old Mickey Mouse t-shirt into a pillow for his bed. He was very agreeable to that idea. So we will be gaining a new pillow and losing a shirt that is way to small for him. ๐
How did your clutter busting go for today? Did you need to do some compromising too?

That’s a great idea to turn a shirt into a pillow. I’m going to have to remember that.
My son doesn’t like to part with somethings so I have to get creative. ๐
What a sweet story! I hope he really enjoys his pillow ๐
You’re such a cool mom, Shelly. And creative, too! I bet your son’s going to love his new pillow. ๐
We washed the shirt and it is waiting by my sewing machine along with two pairs of pants to make into shorts and a sweater to make into a pillow cover. I am thinking this weekend may be a good time to get some of the sewing projects done. ๐
I love decluttering. I now incorporate it right into my routine so I don’t have to devote so much time on the weekend. It looks like your moving right along. The pillow idea is cool! Smart!
That is a great idea of incorporating the decluttering into your routine. I am working on decluttering my whole house this year. I have been making a point of keeping the clutter away in the rooms I have already completed. So it is becoming somewhat of a new routine for me too.
I sometimes have to get creative as my son has a hard time parting with some items. ๐
