Kids Craft, 4th of July Gift Bags

I’ve been sharing about some of the items we have been making for celebrating the 4th of July. Last week the kids and myself made a recycled can wind sock project. Last month, we made some firecracker rice crispy treats, a bandana tablecloth, and popsicle stick flags. But since it is so close to the 4th, I wanted to share with you this quick easy idea for gift bags.

These 4th of July gift bags are really easy to make. If you will be having some little ones over on the 4th, these bags would be great to fill with a few things to keep the kid’s occupied until it’s time to enjoy the fireworks.

A few things that would be great to include in the bags are firecracker rice crispy treats, sparklers, pop-its, fireworks coloring page with some crayons,  a game or two,  a flag or a small toy. Just a few things to keep the kids busy until it’s time for the big show.

How to Decorate the Gift Bags

We purchased our gift bags at the local dollar store. I was able to get these nice, blue, gift bags, 3 for $1. Then I purchased a pack of tissue paper for $1. While your there, you might look around for a small toy or art kit to put into each sack too.

We decided to decorate our bags with fireworks. My daughter had some fluorescent paint, so we used that. The fluorescent paint looked great on the bags.

But regular paint or even star stickers would be great to decorate the bags with. I also found a few printables to use. Here’s some circles or flags and circles. These were made for cupcakes, but I’m sure you could cut them out to glue them on the bags too.

Once our bags were painted and dried, we added a square with each persons name to the bag. It’s nice to have the names on the bags just so there isn’t a fight about whose bag is who’s, if you know what I mean. 🙂

All that is left to do is to fill them with some fun stuff for the kids to do and turn them loose with their bags until it’s time for the fireworks. I know something like these bags will help to keep them busy and happy.
