Shelly i noticed there is no amount on the milk on the list of ingredients to make the cake…it just says 1 milk/soymilk. In the instructions it does not mention adding milk or soymilk.
Oh my Gigi, thanks for pointing that out. It should say 1 cup of milk or soymilk. I’ll get a new pdf prepared and send you a copy when it’s ready. Thanks again for letting me know.
Looks delicious, Shelly! Thanks for sharing this super easy recipe. ๐
Wow, doesn’t this cake look yummy? I always like having a mix on hand for quick desserts.
Thanks for sharing the handy labels too!
King Arthur gluten free flour is the best sub flour for AP flour I have found. My son is allergic to wheat and until finding this brand flour all my cakes had failed.
Thanks Marana. That’s good to know. I’m sure that will help a lot of other people.
I put my mix in the softer, which made the cake thin, will this be ok to cook this way?
LaSha, I’m not sure what a softer is. So I’m unsure. Can you explain what a softer is?
I think she meant sifter, but not sure.
Thanks Gail, that makes sense. I appreciate it.
Can you use the mix to make cupcakes? If so what would baking time and temperature be?
Elizabeth, you can use this mix to make cupcakes. I would bake them at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes and then check to see if they are baked through. I hope that helps.
Have you ever used this mix to make a chocolate cake? If so how much cocoa would you sub for the flour?
Tshanina, I have a recipe for chocolate cake mix too. You can find the recipe here.
Want to try and make the cake from this cake mix I see you have both milk and water are you adding both ? It doesnโt say. I see someone asked about the milk so itโs 1 cup of milk but are you adding the 3/4 cup water to? Or your either adding 1 cup of milk or 3/4 cup water.
Angelina, To make the cake you want to add 1 cup of milk and 3/4 cup of water. I use part water and part milk in my recipes to help keep the cost down since we use organic soy milk for milk in our home. And just add the water and the milk at the same time to when making the recipe. I hope that helps.
Oh ok thanks for clarifying that for me I Canโt wait to try it. I donโt use oil though we have a ton of applesauce I like to use that when baking do you think this cake will work well with the substitute ?
Hi! For how long can the mix be stored? Does it have to be refrigerated?
We use ours within 2 months, but it may keep longer than that. I store our homemade cake mix in an airtight container on the shelf in the pantry.
Hi, there! I was wondering if I could use Almond milk in your recipe?
Linda, Almond milk should work great too.
Can this be made into a lemon cake mix
Mary, I’ve never tried to do that. But I bet you could add lemon flavoring and grated lemon zest to the liquid mixture when preparing the mix. I hope that helps. Let me know how it turns out if you give it a try.
I looked at the recipe and was confused it said 1milk, was not sure if that was 1 cup, tbs or spoon, sodid not make it. Maybe Shelley could update it
Rozz, it’s 1 cup, if you grab the printable tags the ingredients have been corrected. I hope that helps.
Oil was mentioned is there oil in the recipe, if so how much?
Marilyn, you’ll need half a cup of oil. I hope that helps.
Hi was wondering how I would make this sugar free ? Thanks
Lillian, you could try a sugar substitute that is suitable for baking. Look for one that is a 1 to 1 exchange, like this one at Walmart. I hope that helps.
Can I use cake flour instead?
Thanks
Nancy, yes, cake flour will work fine too. I usually just use all purpose because I always have it on hand. I hope that helps.
