Homemade Peppermint Fudge
Each year we make sweet holiday treats to give to friends and family.
Homemade fudge is one of my favorite holiday desserts because it’s made with simple ingredients you can get at the grocery store. It’s easy to make and makes a great holiday gift.
This recipe isn’t a milk chocolate fudge, no it’s a creamy white chocolate fudge. You don’t need sour cream, marshmallow creme, mini marshmallows, or instant pudding mix.
No, it’s a simple recipe with only 4 ingredients.
And just so you know, you won’t need a double boiler or a candy thermometer either. If you can run a microwave, you can make this fudge, really you can. The hardest part is crushing the candy canes or peppermint candies. But I’ll show you how. It’s really not that hard.
If you love all things peppermint this time of year, you’ll love this fudge.
Now let’s get to what you’ll need to make this easy dessert.

·Microwave or a Medium Saucepan
You’ll need a large bowl that is microwave safe or a medium saucepan or if you are messy like me, a large saucepan to melt the chocolate.
The saucepan should be a heavy pan if you’ll be melting the white chocolate on the stove top. I find the microwave method is the easiest but either will work.
This is handy to crush the peppermint candies or candy canes.
A single batch of this fudge fits perfectly in a square baking dish. If you need to make more fudge, you can double the recipe and use a 13-inch pan instead.
·Heat Resistant Rubber Spatula
A rubber spatula is a must for getting the sweetened condensed milk out of the can and getting all the fudge out of the pan or bowl.
·Parchment Paper or Waxed Paper
To line the baking dish for easy removal of the fudge from the pan.
·Sealed Container for Storage of the Fudge
After the fudge is made to keep it from drying out and getting crumbly, you’ll want an airtight container.

Here’s all the steps to making this easy recipe…
1. Crush the Peppermint Candies
This is the hardest part of the recipe. I always thought that candy canes would crush the easiest, but I’ve actually found that the starlight candies crush easier. And the best way to crush them is with a meat tenderizer.
To crush the candy, it’s a good idea to leave it in the wrapper and give it a couple of good hits with the meat tenderizer. This will crush the candy into smaller pieces.
You want small pieces of candy, but keep it contained inside the wrapper until it is crushed. If you remove the wrapper first, you’ll have candy pieces flying everywhere.
You’ll need about 30 starlight candies or 10 large candy canes. After you have them crushed, open the peppermint candy wrappers and measure 1/2 cup of crushed candies into one bowl and 1/4 a cup into another bowl. Set aside.
2. Melt the Chips
Now we’ll melt the chips. You’ll need a microwave-safe bowl or a large saucepan.
Place the chips in your bowl or pan. Add the sweetened condensed milk and give it a stir.
If you’re microwaving the mixture, microwave at 30-second intervals and then stir. Keep doing this until the chips are melted.
If you are using the stove top method with a saucepan, heat the chips and sweetened condensed milk over medium heat to medium-low heat. Stirring until the chips are all melted.
Recipe Tip: Be sure to stop for each interval when microwaving and check how the melting process is going. If the chips overheat, they will get grainy and there is no going back. The fudge will be ruined. This can also happen on the stove, so be sure to melt them slowly at the right temperature.
3. Stir in the Crushed Peppermint Candies
Once the chips are melted, you’ll want to stir in 1/2 cup of the crushed peppermint candies and the peppermint flavoring or extract.
I use peppermint candy flavoring and only need 2-3 drops, but if you are using peppermint extract, add 1 teaspoon. Stir to mix them in well.
4. Pour into the Baking Dish
Pour your peppermint fudge mixture into a baking dish that is lined with parchment paper or waxed paper to make it easier to remove and cut later.
5. Finish the Top of the Fudge
The last step is to make the fudge pretty by sprinkling the remaining crushed candy canes or starlight candies on top of the fudge. Then gently press them down into the fudge.
Let the fudge sit at room temperature to set up, or if you are in a hurry, you can refrigerate the fudge to help it set up faster.
6. Cut the Fudge
Once the fudge is fully set up. Remove it from the pan by lifting it out by the parchment paper or waxed paper.
Cut into serving-size pieces.
Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
Those are the 6 easy steps to making this delicious recipe for easy white chocolate fudge with peppermint. It makes a great gift idea during the holiday season.
And no one needs to know just how easy it is to make.
