By stocking up on they when they are on sale you can really save and not have to pay full price.
But other items might be at their best prices only once or twice a year. That’s when you’ll want to purchase those items to save the most.

Thrift Stores
With all the spring cleaning and decluttering the thrift stores usually have a good amount of inventory this time of year. Which means you might be able to find a better deal this time of year than in other times of the year.
If you’re a thrift shopper May would be a good month to frequent a few of your favorite thrift stores to see if you find a good deal or two.
I know I still use a leather purse I purchased at a garage sale years ago for $5. It’s the one thrifted item I get the most comments on. So you never know what you might find.
Cookware and Kitchen Tools

You should find good deals on chips, dip, salad dressing, smores supplies, hamburger and hot dog buns too. Grilling meats sales should also be good this month. Be sure to stock up on extra and put into the freezer.

Also, be aware that most stores put their expensive mattresses in the front of the store and the less expensive one in the back. Sneaky, I know. But by shopping the back of the store you might find the perfect mattress at a great price too.
Furniture
May is a great time to find deals on home furniture and outdoor furniture too. With the great Memorial Day sales, you should be able to find a great deal furniture. If your couch or outdoor furniture is begging to be updated, be on the lookout for the best sales this month.
While those no money down, no interest, and no payments for a certain amount of time are enticing, it’s better to pay cash.
But if you do a financing deal like this be sure to pay it off in full before it comes due to avoid the back loaded interest from the time of purchase. Since in many cases interest will accrue if not paid in full by free financing end date.

We recently found a few great deals on capris for my daughter and myself. As well as 25% off shoes for my husband and 40% off sandals for my son.

Great list, Shelly! I’m looking forward to good deals on in-season produce. 🙂
Thanks Sandra!
Such a great list! I know that I need to stock up on sunscreen and insect repellent for my family before the weather starts to turn hot. I’m also hoping to find a nice lightweight jacket on clearance for my daughter, as her old one is pretty worn out.
My son is in need of a new lightweight jacket too. I hope you find one on sale.
Actually many stores just opening again after being closed in our area at least since the middle of March will have a lot of merchandise to clearance to clear out their store rooms which will also likely go on clearance. In my daughter’s retail store the clothing is a season ahead generally as are many in the retail mall where her store is located.
Nancy, I didn’t realize that store were actually closed in some areas. I know in our area, some store switched to online purchases with curbside pick up, some did close. Or they limited shoppers in the store but they stayed open to some extent. But in your area, I’m sure there will be a good deals to be had if they were closed for so long. Thanks for sharing!
