A mandolin works great for apples. You can make thin slices or thick slices by adjusting the setting. And you can slice a lot of apples quickly. I highly recommend one.
Paring knives are so useful for so many tasks and can make slicing apples quick and easy. If you don’t have a mandolin, then this will work. The chef knife is a little bigger and great for dicing apples.
For most of the apple recipes, you’ll want to peel the apples. A vegetable peeler is the perfect tool for the job. It takes just the skin and leaves the apple. Be sure to cut the top of the apples off first to make it easier to get the peeling started.
A melon baller works great to remove the core with the seeds, without removing a lot of the apple. I scoop the stem portion from the top of the apple. Then I scoop the blossom end of the apple. Cut the apple in half and scoop the seeds out. Your apple is ready to slice.
