7 Day Frugal Menu Plan

A 7 day menu plan for when you are running low on funds | Frugal Family Home

Sometimes you are just running a little low on money. It could be because of an unexpected bill. Or maybe because you spent a little more earlier in the month that you should have. Either way it’s good to have some cheap eats in your menu plan to help cut the grocery budget just a little.

Sticking to cooking with inexpensive staples is a great way to make a frugal menu plan. Using grains like rice and oat groats for breakfasts instead of cold cereal can help you save. Or do like we do and make your own oatmeal packets.

For dinner making a meal where the meat is part of the dish instead of the main dish can help slash your food bill too. I’ve also found that in most recipes a half pound of ground beef works well for our family of 4. Especially those dishes that also include beans.

Making meals with basic staples is a great way to keep the food budget a little lower. I have a few meals that I make each month to keep our grocery bill in check. I’ve put them into a menu plan for to share with you, along with the recipe links too.

  1. We make all sorts of different types of pasta with only sauce or some cheese sprinkled over it – no meat. We also eat beans and rice dishes that are meat-free. 🙂
